- A stablecoin is a cryptocurrency pegged 1:1 to the US dollar. Because it does not rise or fall in value, it is not a speculative instrument. Stablecoins are regulated in the US (the GENIUS Act), Europe (MiCA), and other jurisdictions, and are typically backed by US Treasuries to maintain the peg.
- Who can pay me in stablecoin?
- Anyone, including businesses, regardless of where they live. The sender can pay from a centralized exchange such as Binance, or from a self-custodial wallet on major blockchain networks.
- What if the sender only has Bitcoin or Ether?
- They would first convert their cryptocurrency to the USDC stablecoin. Once their funds are on a supported blockchain network, they can pay you right away.
- How long does it take to receive a payment?
- It depends on the blockchain network, but payments usually arrive within 30 minutes. On the Solana network, a payment arrives in about 0.8 seconds.
